Privacy policy
Amberlight and Amberlight Bridge are built so your data stays with you. The apps have no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. No personal data from the apps reaches lab73 GmbH. For this website we use cookieless page statistics and error monitoring, both described below.

The iPhone app “Amberlight”
Connection to your Mac
Amberlight finds Amberlight Bridge via Bonjour on your local network and exchanges data only with your own Mac: titles and status of your coding agent sessions, questions and your answers, usage figures, Mac load and your layout. The connection is protected by a key that is transferred when you pair via QR code and is stored only on your two devices.
Camera
The camera is used only to scan the pairing QR code. Images are neither stored nor transmitted.
Location and weather
If you use the weather widget with your current location, Amberlight sends the coordinates to the weather service Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) to fetch the forecast. If you enter a place instead, only that place name is sent. Open-Meteo’s privacy policy applies.
Calendar
The calendar widget reads your events only on the iPhone to show the next one. Events are not transmitted.
Spotify
If you connect Spotify, you sign in directly with Spotify. Amberlight then talks directly to Spotify to show and control playback. The access tokens are stored in your iPhone’s keychain. Spotify’s privacy policy applies.
Storage
Settings and layouts are stored on your iPhone and, for syncing, in Amberlight Bridge on your Mac. Access keys are stored in the keychain. Deleting the app removes this data from the iPhone.
The Mac app “Amberlight Bridge”
Amberlight Bridge runs locally on your Mac. It reads your coding agents' session data from your user folder, adds hooks to their settings for this purpose and makes the data available only to paired devices on your local network. Usage figures come from CodexBar on your Mac, if installed.
If you set up optional integrations such as GitLab or custom widgets, Amberlight Bridge connects directly to those services with your credentials. The credentials are stored in your Mac’s keychain. Those services’ own privacy policies apply.
This website
This website is delivered via Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). When you visit, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data such as IP address, time, requested URL and browser identifier to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. The website sets no cookies and loads no external fonts.
Page statistics and tests with PostHog
To understand which content is used, we count page views and individual actions such as clicks on the download with PostHog (PostHog Inc., USA, servers in the EU). PostHog sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. Visits are counted only via a daily rotating, irreversible identifier derived from IP address and browser identifier. The IP address is not stored, so we cannot recognise you. We also test different versions of the top of the home page. Which version you see is calculated by Cloudflare when serving the page, from an equally daily rotating identifier, and nothing is stored for it. We only analyse aggregated numbers. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in improving the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Error monitoring with Sentry
If a technical error occurs on the website, your browser sends an error report to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc., USA, data stored in the EU). The report contains the error message, the requested URL, and your browser and operating system. Your IP address is only processed to transmit the report and is not stored. We use the reports solely to fix errors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Feedback board on Fider
We collect ideas and votes for the roadmap on a feedback board hosted by Fider (Northern App Labs Ltd., United Kingdom). The board is not embedded in this website. Only when you click “Open the feedback board” on the “Feedback” page do you leave our website, and your browser connects to Fider. Fider then processes technically necessary data such as your IP address and sets one strictly necessary cookie. You can read without an account. To post, comment or vote, you sign in with Fider. Fider then stores your name, email address and contributions; your name, contributions and votes are publicly visible on the board. We use the contributions and votes to collect requests and set the order of the roadmap. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in developing Amberlight (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Fider’s privacy policy also applies.
Contact by email
If you email us, we process your message and address to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once they are no longer needed.

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Contact hello@amberlight.dev. You may also lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at).
